The 10 Rules of UBC
- Treat every item of equipment within the boat club as if it was your personal property.
- Treat every member of the Club with respect and courtesy.
- The Executive of the Club will publish a boat and oar allocation list – no one is to use boats and oars other than in accordance with that allocation.
- Before going on the water please ensure the Log Book has been filled out, and note your return on completing the row. This is a safety requirement.
- Be quick when using the pontoon or launching from the steps, and remember incoming rowers have the right of way, and always remember rule No.2.
- No boats, the property of the Union Boat Club, are to be rowed downstream of the Cobham Bridge on the Whanganui River.
- All boats and oars are to be washed before being returned to their racks.
- All boats and oars are to be returned to the same rack as they were removed from.
- If anything breaks, either fix it, or tell someone who can fix it – don’t leave it for the next person to discover when they get on the water.
- Always try your hardest to act in a way that will make your family, friends and club proud.
UBC Gym Rules
- Treat every item of equipment within the boat club as if it was your personal property.
- Treat every member of the Club with respect and courtesy.
- Remember not everyone is as strong as you – please unload the heavy weights off the bar when you finish and return them to the appropriate place!
- Please spray and wipe down all equipment you use when you finish – we don’t want to share your sweat. Please use a sweat towel if possible.
- Please leave the Gym as you would like to find it next time you arrive – and remember to lock all windows and doors.
Please be aware of your own safety and that of others when using the gym equipment. If you are planning a heavy weights session please ensure you have appropriate supervision in case of an accident/emergency.
The club does not condone the use of heavy weights when completing workouts alone.
Athletes
All athletes/rowers must be able to swim 50m in light clothes unassisted.
If you cannot swim – NO ROW.
Your safety in the first instance is your own responsibility.
