School Rowing is very strong within Union Boat Club, with Cullinane College and Wanganui Girls' College affiliated to the club. With almost 50 school rowers at the club, they make a significant contribution to winning points at Club regattas.

The younger school crews are helped with great coaches and are always encouraged by the senior rowers of the club.

Over the last two seasons Aaron Brider, one the senior rowers in the club, has taken up the role of coaching the boys ("Aarons Angels") from Cullinane College. The boys have improved immensely and are thoroughly enjoying it. Some think they row because of the fellow female rowers but we're sure that's not the case.

Alan Kirk has coached Cullinane College girls for the past 3 seasons. With a squad of 11 girls including 8 novices this season Alan has been very busy.
