About

Union Boat Club is the one of New Zealand’s most historic rowing and sculling clubs.

Located in the central city alongside the Whanganui River, Union Boat Club offers some of the best training facilities in New Zealand. UBC has programmes for Club, School, Novice, Masters and Recreational Rowers.

School rowing constitutes a major part of Union Boat Club with groups from Whanganui Girls College and Cullinane College involved in training programmes. Masters rowing is also a key part of club. A squad of masters competes at master’s games and at local regattas during the season.

The club has a well-equipped gym and the cost of membership is around half of what you would pay for an average gym membership.

Union welcomes rowers of all ages and abilities to join.
There will be a place for you whether you are new or an experienced rower and interested in joining any of our squads.
